Exercise Equipment Review for Home Exercise
The top exercise machine is a treadmill. Aerobic exercise is a necessity and I like doing my runs outside but . . . . . inclement weather can be a problem. I also like to do my runs before work so during the week I love using the treadmill. I recommend an electric treadmil. I like adjusting the speed and seeing what kind of overall improvement I make. I also do intervals on them where I'll set the speed at a lower level, then kick it into high gear for my set period of time, and return to the lower level. I would also recommend a treadmill that automatically allows you to adjust the height so you can easily get in some hill training. This isn't a necessity but the cost for one like this is not usually much higher. Many people buy exercise equipment and it sits and collects dust, so purchase a decent treadmill for around $200 - $300. Forget the higher priced ones for now - with the programs and more. They are costly and, unless you are 100% sure you will use them, you might be throwing away money. If you use a treadmill regularly, that is a different story.
Dumbbells Why? Because you can use them at home without a spotter. With regular weights, for instance, if you are doing a bench press and reach a sticking point, you might be in trouble trying to get the barbell back onto the rack, or even trying to get it behind your head so you can drop it safely to the floor. With dumbbells, you can safely drop them to the side. In addition, without a spotter, you might tend to not push out that extra rep. If you are doing a single dumbbell repetition, however, you can use the other hand to slightly assist you in lifting the dumbbell, then slowly lower it for negative reps. This makes your muscles grow. I really believe a good set of adjustable dumbbells are essential, as well as . . . . .
